TAG-X An RFID Gamification Game Changer
So much more than fastest time wins
A Gamification Gamechanger!
TAG-X isn't just a game - it's a commercial engine.
Nine game modes, retained hi-scores and live leaderboards drive repeat visits, while built-in fitness tracking, operator analytics and GDPR-compliant marketing data capture deliver real, lasting business value. Fully wireless and retrofittable to any existing play area, it's the only system of its kind in the indoor play sector.
RFID: A Different Approach to Play
Existing button-based systems are a one-trick solution - a score, nothing more.
TAG-X captures every interaction via an RFID bracelet, turning each visit into a data set; Fitness metrics, route maps, hotspot analysis, marketing data and retained hi-scores all flow from the same system, automatically, with no staff involvement. The difference isn't just technical - it's the difference between a game and a genuine commercial asset.
RFID Technology
Each TAG-X unit uses RFID 'node' readers distributed throughout the play structure. Players interact using brandable wristbands and the system reads, scores and updates in real time without any input from staff. The system can be customised to suit any operator GDPR policies.
Player Operated - no staff required!
Players self register and select their own games. No staff required! TAG-X ships with 9 distinct game modes including team games and party modes. Games can be queued up (think jukebox style) or rotated by staff to keep the experience fresh.
Wireless by Design
TAG-X requires no fixed wiring and no specialist installation. Nodes are battery-powered and communicate wirelessly - installation is fast, reconfiguration is simple, and costly infrastructure is avoided entirely. Nodes can be repositioned with tamper-proof fixings, and each comes with a spare battery. Zero downtime, zero fuss
The Commercial Case for TAG-X
Longer Sessions
Scored gameplay keeps players engaged longer per visit. The urge to beat a personal best or top the leaderboard naturally extends session length - increasing per-head spend on food, drinks and secondary activities.
Stronger Repeat Visits
Nine game modes - individual, team and head-to-head - meaning no two visits feel the same. Retained hi-scores give every player a personal challenge to beat, while live leaderboards keep the competitive pressure on between visits.
Events & Competitions
TAG-X extends meaningful engagement well into early teens - an age where traditional soft play drops off. Dedicated sessions and party packages create new revenue streams rather than redistributing existing footfall. At Leys Pools, TAG-X party bookings from families with older children increased notably after installation. That's new income from the same footprint.
Fast, Low-Cost Install
No fixed wiring, no specialist installation, no new-build required. TAG-X retrofits onto any existing soft play structure - nodes are battery-powered, wireless and ready to go. Each node includes a spare battery rated for 120 hours of gameplay. Minimal disruption, maximum commercial return.

Proven in the Field
Case Study
Leys Pools & Leisure Centre, Oxford
Leys Pools & Leisure Centre installed TAG-X alongside an APE-X obstacle course as part of a wider investment in active play for older children and teens. The combination of physical challenge and competitive scoring created an attraction that stood out clearly from anything else in the region, with a measurable impact on both session length and repeat bookings within the first 6-months of operation.
"TAG-X gave us something we couldn’t find anywhere else - not just a more engaging obstacle course, but a system that actually works operationally. From integrated waivers to GDPR compliance, it fits seamlessly into how we run the business. It’s flexible, easy to manage, and removes a lot of the friction behind the scenes."- Leys Pools & Leisure Centre, Oxford
Play That Measures Movement
For the first time in the indoor play sector, play is not just encouraging movement - it is measuring it.
TAG-X's active fitness tracking monitors calories burned, distance travelled, and top and average speeds throughout each play session. This is a genuine industry first, and its implications extend well beyond the individual venue.
We cannot tackle childhood obesity without first understanding how children actually move when they play. TAG-X helps provide that understanding - quantifying physical activity in a leisure setting that millions of children visit every year, and making that data available to parents, operators, and ultimately the wider sector.
No subscriptions
New game modes and system updates can be pushed to installed units remotely. Maintenance and updates are included - with no ongoing subscription costs!
Hardware Built to Last
TAG-X hardware is manufactured to the same standards as Soft Brick's soft play range - designed for the physical realities of a busy leisure venue.
Works With Existing Installations
TAG-X is not exclusive to APE-X. The wireless RFID units can be retrofitted to existing obstacle structures, climbing frames and traditional soft play structures - giving operators a path to gamification without replacing equipment they already own.
Complementary Product
TAG-X & APE-X: Better Together
TAG-X was designed with APE-X play equipment in mind. Paired together, the physical challenge of APE-X's multi-route ninja obstacles becomes a fully scored, competitive, gamification arena! The combination delivers some of the highest engagement levels of any soft play related product on the market - and gives operators two compelling stories to tell within one installation.
Who Is TAG-X Designed For?
TAG-X suits any operator looking to deepen engagement, attract competitive players, or add a technology-led dimension to their activity offering - without complex installation or ongoing IT overhead.
