New builds at B&Q!

We're proud to announce a new project working alongside DIY superstore B&Q to introduce soft play to some of their stores across the UK.

We were approached by B&Q's store development team since they had been tasked with how to go about attracting more families into their B&Q stores. The team got in touch with our team of designers and we discussed some ideas that might work for areas within their in-store cafes.

Our team presented two avenues to explore - soft play structures (that include steelwork) and soft play areas (consisting of floor / wall padding and loose soft play equipment).

B&Q stand alone soft play area concept

Our discussions led us to explore a middle ground - a soft play area surrounded by a low-level steel barrier, with a close-able entry section. We were confident we had a workable design, so next on the list was to ensure the play area would sit alongside B&Q's branding / colour schemes. This was of course no problem since our talented manufacturing team and artists are able to recreate most things to suit our customer's most exacting requirements! To add some extra Soft Brick magic we were also able to create a bespoke B&Q Wobbly character for their youngest customers to play with.

Bespoke soft play by Soft Brick

The small soft play spaces have proved to be very popular and currently are being trialled in 2 B&Q stores.

A spokesperson for B&Q added:

“Working with Soft Brick has been great! We were looking for ways to improve our store experience and wanted a soft play experience for young kids. Soft Brick produced a bespoke solution which importantly could be tailored to B&Q's look and feel. Feedback so far has been great - kids and parents absolutely love it and it is bringing new customers into our stores.”

We are delighted that the areas are working well and we hope that the soft play will be rolled out to other stores over the coming months!
